the world is too much with us poem

the world is too much with us poem

The world is too much with us; late and soon,

Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:

Little we see in Nature that is ours;

We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!

This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;

The winds that will be howling at all hours,

And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;

For this, for everything, we are out of tune,

It moves us not.- Great God! I’d rather be

A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;

So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,

Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;

Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;

Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.

William Wordsworth ने the world is too much with us को सन 1802 में compose किया था, तथा सन 1807 में The world is too much with us poem को published कराया था।

the world is too much with us poem

the world is too much with us poem

the world is too much with us summary

the world is too much with us is a poem, which was written by the great English poet William Wordsworth. William Wordsworth is an American writer, who is also known as a natural poet, because William Wordsworth is very fond of nature. William Wordsworth writes most of his poems or compositions on nature.

William Wordsworth composed the world is too much with us in 1802, and published the poem The world is too much with us in 1807.

In the poem the world is too much with us, the poet has satirically described the time when human beings used to only earn. Used to eat, and some was left. He did not pay any attention towards nature. This poem written by William Wordsworth applies exactly to the present day, today’s man is also entangled in his happiness and sorrow and is moving away from nature.

It seems as if William Wordsworth had made a satire (sarcasm) on today’s present in the year 1802 while making a prediction. In the poem the world is too much with us, William Wordsworth has complained against the human race and said that this nature tells the human beings to come! Come to me, see me, feel me! But man is engrossed in his own fun and is keeping distance from nature. Today’s man is happy only in the artificial things made by him.

The poet says that this world, this nature means a lot for humans. It is an important part of human life. It is an important need in human life, and this need will be understood by humans one day or very soon.

In getting and spending we are wasting our power. We are not able to recognize our powers, further the poet says that all this is not ours, ours is only nature.

Nature is ours and we are its. We have given over or sold our heart, mind and soul to the material world. This heart is lost only in artificial things.
Further the poet says that this ocean feels like the moon from its chest.

The waves of this sea rise very high, winds blow fast near the sea and make noise. It seems as if she is saying something but we are not able to understand all this.

It is as if we humans have become like a flower which has withered and no longer has life in it. Now it is about to separate from the plant, we do not even appreciate it for this beauty of nature. It seems as if we have become deaf. We should have nothing to do with all these things.

In the next line the poet says that I myself will become the priest of nature. I will do everything from which humans are moving away. I will connect with nature and feel it. I want to connect with nature because when I am close to nature, I do not feel alone, nature takes away my sadness and loneliness.

If I become a priest of nature I can see God Proteus and Triton.
